To test IE launched by EXE and no developer tool

JeffC
I have a web app to test, browser IE (the web app) is launched by a Windows desktop app. The desktop app does authentication and then launch IE to open a link. The desktop app has no UI. The IE that launched has no title bar, no save source option, no developer tool, press F12 has no reaction. And no way to switch to another kind of browser, IE only. I have two issues:
1. How to get id / name / xpath etc of the web pages?
2. How to generate Selenium WebDriver object when browser IE is launched by an EXE.

Thanks
